Northern Beaches Council voted
8 to 7 to increase rates
by 39.6% over three years.
Many in our community simply
cannot afford a substantial rate increase at this time.
We are also very concerned about
the way that Council manages
its fiscal responsibilities.
We've created a petition to
stop this rate hike.
With 20,000 signatures this petition will be tabled in Parliament.

Northern Beaches Council represents 267,000 residents in roughly 50 suburbs from Palm Beach to Manly.
39.6% increase over three years will raise $57million extra per year.
Council have not done a line-by-line review of expenses, which would be prudent task before asking ratepayers (which includes businesses) to pay substantially increased rates.
Council CEO Scott Phillips earns $544,875 a year (Prime Minister Anthony Albanese earns $586,950).

Three other senior staff members, excluding Mr Phillips, earned a combined $2,302,000
1,800 Council staff costs $159 million in wages (40 % its annual budget).
Alternatives were suggested to Councillors at the meeting to no avail.
The survey was unsatisfactory, in terms of timing and ease of use.
